    Monterey Peninsula Country Club
    Monterey Peninsula Country Club
Monterey Peninsula Country Club | Pebble Beach, California

Recognized as a 400-acre venue that hosts the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Club opened its Dunes Course in 1926 when Pebble Beach founder Samuel F. B. Morse was Club president and later opened the Shore Course along scenic 17-Mile Drive in 1959. During the restoration of the Dunes Course, our team developed a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for water pollution control and provided Qualified SWPPP Practitioner services during construction. Our team also provided land surveying and civil engineering services during the extensive clubhouse remodel and expansion, which included grading and drainage design of outdoor terraces, stormwater retention pond, utility relocations and cart path realignments. Our land surveying team used unmanned aerial vehicle drone mapping to collect contour and imagery data for the Club.

Corral de Tierra Country Club | Salinas, California

Built in 1959, the 18-hole, par-72 course resides in the foothills between Salinas and the Monterey Peninsula. For the country club’s redevelopment, Whitson Engineers provided civil engineering and land surveying services for the clubhouse, pro shop and cart barn facilities. Services consisted of construction staking, topographic and utility surveys and design plans for infrastructure improvements that included circulation improvements, parking expansion, grading, stormwater management, site utilities and erosion control.

San Juan Oaks Golf Club | San Benito County, California

Rolling hills and mature oaks define the 18-hole, par-72 golf course designed by PGA pro Fred Couples and Gene Bates for players of all abilities. During development of the 2,000-acre club, Whitson Engineers provided civil engineering and land surveying services, which included topographic and boundary surveys, and design for roads, clubhouse site, parking areas, utility systems and stormwater management. Our team also worked on golf course design coordination, site drainage analysis, State Highway 156 intersection modifications and residential development site planning.

Poppy Hills Golf Course | Pebble Beach, California

Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the course first opened in 1986; extensive renovation completed in 2014 reduced the par from 72 to 71, but increased yardage from 6,863 to 7,002. For the improvements, Whitson Engineers worked with RTJ to furnish engineering design and Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) and Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) services that encompassed plans for water pollution control, storm drainage, a new golf cart bridge, construction drawings for the expansion of one of the course’s lake, and stormwater monitoring and reporting. Whitson Engineers also designed accessibility improvements for the clubhouse that included construction of accessible parking stalls and curb ramps. We also provided grading and drainage plans for the construction of a new snack bar and terrace area. Our land surveyors completed a topographic survey for the clubhouse.

Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course | Pacific Grove, California

This old-style course with magnificent forest and ocean views first opened in 1932 with nine holes; the original designer of Pebble Beach Golf Links later added the back nine. Located in a residential area, our team respected the needs of the local neighborhood during this project. For the clubhouse and pro shop, our team supplied land surveying and civil engineering services in conjunction with site development, parking, and street and utility improvements. Project elements included full Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility, parking expansion and tree preservation.
