Roxana Ramos joined the firm as a summer intern in June of 2015, after completing her junior year at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She learned about the internship program while attending the Civil & Environmental Engineering Career Fair at Cal Poly.
Whitson Engineers was her first exposure to the engineering profession. The internship provided her with valuable experience and a greater perspective on the civil engineering field. During her internship, she had the opportunity to work in the Soquel and Monterey offices, where she worked with experienced engineers that shared their knowledge and experience with her.
"There was always someone to answer my questions, and everyone was very open, friendly, and willing to help. I felt like part of the team from day one, and enjoyed every minute of my internship."
During her time at Whitson Engineers, she learned something new every day and worked on a variety of public and private projects including; land development, topographic maps, grading, traffic calming and pavement rehabilitation. She strengthened her engineering and Civil 3D skills and was able to apply what she has learned towards her Senior Design Project while attending Cal Poly.
"My internship at Whitson was a rewarding learning experience." After graduating from Cal Poly with her BSCE degree the summer of 2016, she became a full-time Assistant Engineer with the firm.
