Dustin Evans interned with our survey department the summer of 2016.
"I canít imagine a smarter, more dedicated, or fun group to work with. Your work culture is something every firm should strive towards."
"From gathering data in the field with the Trimble total station to analyzing it in the office with AutoCAD, I feel I received a well-rounded internship experience that I will never forget."
He enjoyed working outdoors, conversing with contractors, and learning the construction side of the business. Surveying topography helped him to gain a better understanding of the data needed to create surface for design purposes. He was able to bring the surveying work he did in the field into the office. Drafting the topography helped him improve his skills with AutoCAD, which is an integral part of the job. The most rewarding part of his experience was watching projects develop over summer and knowing that he was part of the process.
Dustin mentioned that it was an honor to work at Whitson Engineers, and there isnít a better learning environment out there. Dustinís experience will have a positive ripple effect as he continues his education in civil engineering at California State University of Sacramento.
"At Whitson you feel like youíre part of the team at work and outside of work, from day one. Whether itís playing a softball game, or having a learning lunch, they really know how to have fun and promote a healthy work-life balance and genuinely take care of their employees by providing great benefits."
